Research topics carried out with national cooperation
Evaluation of the vegetative and generative properties of pear localvarieties in the Hungarian pear gene bank. Fertőd has one of the richest pear variety collections (gene bank) in Hungary. We have a close working relationship with the research institute. Together, we study the generative and vegetative characteristics of pear varieties, carry out pruning studies and organise collection tours to preserve old varieties.
Examination of the organoleptic properties of berries in the Hungarian fruit gene bank, evaluation of storage.
Examination of intensive greenhouse tomato cultivation, the possibilities of biological pest control, introduction of some environment-friendly methods.
In the framework of the cooperation between the faculties of Széchenyi István University, together with the Apáczai Faculty, led by Dr. András Halbritter: Foundation for School Gardens – horticultural aspects of school garden activities. Participation in national and international projects.
With the help of our peer educators, we are exploring the possibilities of developing domestic grassland grazing management, with a special focus on protected areas.
